Pump/Heater size?

Super-basic time:

Whats the rule of thumb for tank turnover time? 5/hour?

And the pump should have a little excess capacity and be regulated with a ball valve?

How about heater watts/gallon?

More/less depending on climate?

Hi,
Most turn over 3 to 5 times/ hr.

Heater = 3 to 5 watts / gallon for every 10degrees F above room temp.

I use a T connection with ball valves from Home Depot to circulate the extra flow right back to my sump.

Once I complete my DIY fluidized bed, I'll recirculate into the sump through it.
