Bristlenose questions

My new BN's will be here Thurs or Fri and I'm wondering if I can do the "Drop-N-Plop" method like I do with discus? Or are they more sensitive to temp changes or...? They will be between 1" and 2". Also, I have some 1" pvc pipe for them to hide in. Does it matter if both ends are open or do they do better if one end is closed?

My bristlenose were small, 3" when I go the first ones. I let the bag float for 20 minutes and then put them in the tank. They both died within a few days. Dunno what I did wrong.
The next ones I got, I did a bucket drip acclimation then put them in the tank. One died when I accidently sucked it in the syphon. The other is still alive. He likes to hide on my heater or under the driftwood. Both have easy access by other fish. They are alot like other plecos in that respect. Mostly nocturnal too.
