    Default Plant Quarantine

    Hello Gang:

I have just one question... I have various amazon plants in other tanks. I would like to add a potted amazon sword to the discus tank. The plant will be in a clay pot with gravel and bout half-cup potting soil in the middle of the gravel column.

How do I quarantine the plants before introducing them to the discus tank? These plants will come from one of my other tanks that have fish and/or shrimp.

    hasta pronto,

    Pablo

You could make a bath of a gallon of water and just enough potassium permanganate crystals to turn the water a pale lavender. Soak the plant for 10 minutes, you are good to go. Don't over do the length of time you soak, especially for delicate plants.
    Best regards,
    Harriett
