Purigen in XP3

Hi, where are you guys placing the Purigen Packets in your canisters to be most effective? Middle or top basket? Also do you discontinue using the Rena Crystal pack or use it along with the Purigen? Thanks for any advise.

I place mine in the top basket, but I can't say if this is most effective as I have never tried the center basket. I like to change out the purigen and run carbon for a few weeks. I can't see any difference in water clarity either way.

I've used the Purigen in my HOB AC's but never in a canister. It would clear the water to crystal clarity, at times it seemed there was no water in the tank. But, I did have a few reservations about the product. It did nothing at all after three re-generations and it's expensive to replace so often. But in my 75 gal the XP3 doesn't seem to get the water as clear as I would like so I'm thinking about using it again. I'll try the top basket first, so it would be the last thing the water would flow through.
