was wondering if its a good idea to use EHEIM SUBSTRAT Filter Media in my emperor 400 cartages???

yes if it fits. I add it to many different filters for extra bio surface and to have it ready to cycle a new tank.

i try not to touch the bio media in my filters, I only clean the sponges. I will give it a quick rinse if it looks real dirty. sponges I usually only clean lightly every few weeks or when filter flow slows.
