Vintage aircraft
Getting ready for takeoff.
This plane has a canvass skin and according to hubby was used for reconnaissance.
I went with my family to the SunNFun Flyin Air Show yesterday and wow, what a blast. I have never walked around planes as they were taking on or walked over a taxiway between the groups of planes lining up to take off.
Now all this was controlled and coordinated by the good folks of the Lakeland Linder Regional Airport.
The morning was spend walking the grounds and viewing all the planes there for the event. Most the planes were private aircraft and many older vintage planes who were former military aircraft loving restored and flight ready.
The afternoon was the air show and first up was the warbird show featuring many of these wonderful restored military aircraft many from the 1930s forward. The airshow included quite a few jet demos.
I will be posting pictures as I upload them and a few video taken with the phone. I am awaiting pics from my daughter who had a decent camera for the event.
Here's is the website of the event.

Great photos Pat! I love seeing the old planes, just something about them that is almost romantic. You see them in movies and such....open cockpits, the sound of those engines the big V12s and such, the props....its great. Modern aircraft are great, but theres something about the classics.

Thanks Matt, the P-51s were one of my favorites but could only get tiny pictures they were moving so fast.

One of my favorite jets, the Harrier.
If you look close just over the fence to the left of the yellow top is the Harrier showing it's vertical lift control.

When the air show started there were a bunch of vintage plane both trainers and fighter-type, one being the P-51s. Here is some not so hot pictures as the planes are too small. This is the best I could do with a phone and a fast plane
Believe these are all P-51, a gorgeous and fast plane.

Pat, that last picture looks like a Harrier to me. But still cool, all of them!!

In the pic, the wings slope down and back like on a harrier. On the F18, the wings attach under the cockpit instead of on the back and are straight out to the sides. Also the front wheel is bent back, lets harriers cushion a vertical landing better, F18's have a wheel straight down. Not a big deal or anything, just pointing it out hehe. Like I said, cool either way!
