Paul,
First, I want to thank you for your business and second I want to apologize to you again on the condition of the fish upon delivery. It is truly upsetting for me (and all suppliers) when we put in great care to package the fish as best as we can only to have our shippers (UPS, Fedex, USPS) decide to kick the box down the road not caring about the well being of the fish. You have been a great listener and I have no doubt the fish will come back to look as nice as they were in my tanks.
The shape of the discus were truly bad in that first photo you sent me. With so much water loss (the fish were double bagged in 4mm bags with a 4mm liner in between) the fish can actually become dehydrated through prolonged exposure to air. Once they settle in their bodies and fins will heal and the shapes will become more round visually when the fish are happy with their dorsal and anal fins extended.
As to eating, try to tempt them with some frozen bloodworms or blackworms. That's what we had them on here at the warehouse.
Keep up with the water changes and salt, wild discus are very resilient. They will come back beautifully with proper care and maintenance.
