We are populating our first discus tank. 90 gallon and need a reputable place to purchase 6-8 fish. Suggestions? We should be ready for them in two weeks. But I'd like to run our setup by someone before we bring the babies home.
My husband has kept chiclids for 10 years, not sure if we are ready for discus.
I'd hurry. He's getting out of it,shutting down the fishroom.

+1 His fish might be smaller than you intended to get, but you could easily get twice as many as you planned to at a fraction of the cost right now and keep the best as they grow out and sell the rest or something. I'll PM you his phone number in case you want to consider going that route.

IDK, just order from Hans or Kenny. Good customer service, and well packed fish. The frickin bag had 3 rubber bands on each...
Thank, just spoke with William. He only has blue snakeskin and another solid blue (can't remember the name) remaining. We are not concerned with size but would like lots of colors orange, yellow, blue maybe red. We have small children and they are bossy! ; )
Keep in mind to get that from a local breeder is near impossible. You'll be lucky to find one with 2-3 different strains.Sent you a p.m.

I picked up a couple fish from Jeff and they are doing real well. He's a good guy to deal with, just search Exotic discus in New Lenox and you'll find his website.

Try JP's Discus(John) in Rogers Park. He has the BEST quality Asian Discus strains in the area. He also carries frozen and dry foods and meds. as well. PM me for his number, or look for his ad on the GCCA.NET website in the classifieds...Bill

Both of these guys have Craigslist ads and both have quality fish. You are going to have to drive to get good fish in the area. Jeff was 1.5 hours one way from my house but it was worth it although right now most of his fish he has left are pretty small. I think he is getting a new shipment in a month.
Is ur new discus tank cycled?

Will be following this thread as I am just getting into discus and live next to Aurora, in Sugar Grove. Have spoken with both Jeff and John and both were very helpful and generous with their time.
