Nice day. Always feel better after a ride, even if it hurts.
So today after church I came home and did some tank maintenance on the 20 gallon that runs reverse flow under gravel filtration (scraped some Algae from the glass, syphoned off five gallons using a 3/8 rigid line that is about three feet long that goes into a 3/8 flexible syphon line. I put five baby bristlenose plecostomus in there last Friday, and so far the anubias that is in there is almost clean of the black beard algae, and there is a big difference in cleanliness in this tank.
Then I syphoned 10 gallons off of the 75 gallon tank and removed some green algae (spirulina or something the angels have been eating), then stirred up the gravel substrate some, and added about 15 gallons of water back in (we are in the desert so I lose about five gallons of water to evaporation even with the tank lids down. I did change the light from a twin tube T5 to a Fluval plant growth LED, and it is growing something (algae on a big piece of drift wood).
Then I got my cycling bib shorts and new jersey (my wife bought it for my birthday, it is a full zip short sleeve jersey with the Gadsden Flag front and back), and went for a 15.6 mile ride with three hills I can shower and go to bed now

SIMPLY DISCUS IS AN OXYMORON
it was a great day as there wasn't any wind for me to battle. We commonly get 20-30mph sustained with gusts to 60mph

Now that would suck.

oh it does, I have been out with 17 mph headwinds for half the ride and then that same wind as a tail wind for the other half. I was able to make 8-10 miles per hour against the headwind which I figure puts me at an average of 25 mph.
Here is tonight's ride: https://www.strava.com/activities/288886223 as recorded by my bike computer (a CatEye Stealth 50).
I purchased a BKool Pro simulator/trainer so I can ride inside on the nasty days (wind, ice, dark) and it is an interactive trainer that automatically adjusts the resistance for the route you are simulating. I plug in the routes I ride so I can ride them later, and the feel is very realistic, but if you stop pedaling on the trainer it stops the computer program and pops up a window saying "do you want to end this session?".... the answer most of the time is yes I want to, but no I will not quit. I love that trainer as I can use it in my living room at home and virtually ride with some of my friends with them on their trainers in their houses.
