Oh man Al, I know how difficult these guys are and you do well. They are totally gorgeous birds. I have managed to capture a few in flight.

Here in the North east USA, MIgration has been going on a while now, contrary to what we normally think of birds flying south for the winter in the fall, alot of them start in mid to late summer depending on the species. The seaside park I visit regularly is a huge migration stop over for many birds. They come here to rest, fuel up and get ready to to head south. The last month I have seen quite a few Tree swallows here, These little fellows are only about 5" and are incredibly pretty birds with iridescent blues. Professional bug catchers by nature, they are swift flyers. Today I saw thousands...literally. Very hard to catch in flight with a camera, and wary watchers they are just a royal to take pictures of. Did fairly well today though.

Pat I was using my tamron 70-200 but was about 4 feet away. Its got an insane close focusing distance of about 3 feet. .. Really has become my go to lens for nature shots.

That's what it looks like to me. I have them all over my wire weed in the pasture which I would despise otherwise as there is no way I can be rid of it. I also have a ton of spice bush swallow tails that adore my phlox.
