It may be a combination of both. That particular one seems to have been shot at a bad angle but it doesn't look terrible.
Hi everyone! I'm currently in the research stage of deciding weather or not to take on a discus show tank. I have a question regarding shape quality of the fish. I'm interested in keeping Stendker Alenquer discus but I've seen a lot of specimens with an almost "Altum" kind of face. I found a picture on google that slightly shows what I mean. Are these fish suffering from some level of stunted growth or is it just because they are younger and have not reached full adult shape? thanks a lot!

Hello, Simplydiscus community. New member here.
I need your advice. I'm planning on buying some discus from a local seller here and i am wondering if they are healthy or stunted? They are 2 inches.

That bottom one looks stunted to me for sure, I'm not sure about that top one but you will probably do much better ordering from one of the sponsors of this page. Spend some time reading the stickies in the beginners section of the forum, it will probably be very helpful. Substrate and plants are not recommended for 2" discus, and thats what we are looking at here, so I wouldn't buy them. I think this picture is a good one for this thread. Good Luck
Thanks for the info.
This thread deserves a bump up.
