Some people do keep them together,, The thing to remember is if the fish fits in the stingrays mouth, its possibly dinner. Awhile back there was a video of some idiot feeding a discus to his stingray.. Caused quite a lot of Angry comments by Discus keepers.

In my dreams I would have a tank large enough to keep Rays only. If I had Discus to dispose of, I could just put it in with the Rays. Live food is the best food.

We had Motoro stingrays in a big tank with discus. We had a male and 2 females. Stingrays really do like a sandy substrate to dig into. I wouldn't keep them in a bare bottom tank... they wouldn't be happy. They got along fine with the discus while they were young. But the male grew quite large and aggressive. He started attacking the discus. He would smash them up against the side of the tank and hold them there. I had to physically separate them. I don't recall him killing any of the discus, but there were quite a few frayed fins. We eventually had to rehome the stingrays.

That is pathetic feeding discus to Ray.Anyway doesn't seem to be a good idea keeping them together

Re: Discus fish with sting ray
I have kept a single Hystrix Stingray (8in male) in a 150 with 9 adult discus before, no problems there. But as you suspected, they will go for tetras and corys at night, especially since tetras like to hang near the bottom when resting.
