Do they eat duckweed or just bulldoze it?

I wish my apistos would not freaking kill every larger snail I put in with them. I'd like to have a snail that ate some of the floating plants, honestly (though it's not duckweed, so maybe they wouldn't eat dwarf water lettuce). I might have to pick up some mystery snails next time I go to the LFS.

Cool. I have my blues and my magentas in tanks of their own. They're still too young to start laying, though.

Not sure why but mystery snails just don't do well for me. Probably tried 6 or 7 now and none have made it very long. My nerites are doing awesome though. Scared to try any more mystery snails, are they harder to keep? It has me baffled.
What temp are you keeping them at,?

I only have 6 or 7 of them. I understand that females are far more common than males but with that number I should have a male.

Al, I've kept them in a couple different tanks 1 at 78f and one at 82f. One tank I had black diamond blasting sand, the other was pet store bought, can't remember what kind but sand.
I've had good luck now in a bunch of tanks with these.. temps 77-79. Most are bare bottom. .. one is gravel.. thats this tank. One thing I have found is that though we think of snails as taking care of themselves and scavenging.. mystery snails are so big I think they really need alot of food. Mine are pigs.. if I drop in algae discs they practically run to them and devour them.. Maybe yours werent getting enough food?
I do have one tank I was unsuccessful with keeping small mystery snails in.. my 29 gal micro fish and shrimp tank. I tried several times and the snails just didnt do well. Weird as its a really nice tank..good parameters for them, good everything..except the snails didnt like it.

I threw algea wafers every couple days, some of my discus seem to like them as well. My wife is a huge vitamin fan so she got me feeding them to everyone lol
I guess with these it's easier to see the eggs and remove any unwanted to control populations right? I wouldn't mind trying some mystery snails at some point, I need to change some tanks around to find an isolated spot for them. Al is the tank pictured different than the 29gal you mention in the last post?

Matt, it is different than this one here. Its my 29 gal micro and shrimp tank..
