Came here from your introduction thread because I'm a big fan of Piwo Turqs and your images did not disappoint!
Welcome to Simply!
Really nice, Carlos. And what interesting tank mates. Is that a Flag Fish (Jordanella floridae) I see in the last photo? Haven't seen one of those for years. Also good to see the White Clouds can deal with Discus temperatures so well.
Very nice discus the colors should come out nice once they get use to the tank.
Yes, it is! One of the three I keep in the tank (1M+2F), very nice fishes. That one you’ve spotted is a female. In the first photo you can see the male in the left top corner.
Regarding the White Clouds, they are called Chinese Tetra or Chinese Neon here. They support very well the 28 Celsius, they are very active as usual and also participate in the frenzy once the beefheart hits the tank.
Regards

Interesting. I'd never heard those 'popular names' applied to the species. They are indeed Chinese, though as you know not tetras. The 'neon' application, I wager, comes from a commercial breeder who has raised young White Clouds and has seen them go through a color phase in which they are dead ringers for luminous neons. I had read about this and thought it was an exaggeration until I raised a batch myself. It's true.
Aaron you are a wealth of knowledge! Thanks for sharing it!

Nah. But thanks. I'm just old enough and old-school-enough that I benefited from the pre-internet wisdom of the early greats of our hobby who also wrote the foundational aquarium books--Innes and Sterba especially. Innes, for example, refers to the neon tetra-like color phase that White Clouds go through between 3 and 10 weeks old in his description of the species in his seminal book, Exotic Aquarium Fishes.
There was a tropical fish importer who had a lively on-line business in the late 90s and early 2000's--I'm blanking on his name--who had a tagline on his site and his emails: "Everything I know about fish I learned from Innes and Sterba." In that regard we were soulmates.
There were more active forum members with a similar background to mine when I first signed up to SD so my comments then did not seem so unique.
