Aw man.. Sorry to hear that
Hello everyone,
I woke up this morning and went down to my fish room to feed the fish and see how everyone was doing. My Pigeon blood blues from Hans were dead, after having a minor nervous breakdown I gathered my thoughts and started trying to figure out what happened. The airline leading to the sponge filter was disconnected and the backup air stone was off. the temperature of the tank was at 84 which I usually don't keep it that high so I thought thats kinda strange. the ph was normal and I just couldn't figure out what had happened. After doing regular water changes on my other breeder Tanks (seven 20 highs) -grow out tanks (three 75 gallon) and three main tanks (120, 55, 90) and all the fish were fine and happy I said well its not the water. Baffled I called Hans to see if maybe he could help me narrow down what had happened. So we went through everything once again and what I found was my Eheim 100 watt heater had malfunctioned and melted the plastic over its holder. after realizing that the heater was the problem I remembered that tank having issues with the temperature going up and down but just slightly and I was adjusting the Eheim to compensate
I think what happened is the Heater in the middle of the night malfunctioned and caused the temperature to rise drastically the fish reacted Knocking the air hose out and high temperatures with no oxygen probably was the culprit.
I posted two pictures of them they were beautiful and I'm really going to miss them..............................Josie

Sorry you lost those beutiful fish Josie. I would suspect that they might have been electricuted by the heater. To bad either way.
That's a bad way to start the year. Sorry to hear about your loss.

Ah, so sorry to hear this Josie. I had the same thing happen to the competition fish and another tank with some intermediates breeders when my heaters stuck on. I know your pain.
They were lovely fish.

I'd be highly pissed.
I wonder what a small claims suit would do.
So, sorry.
If anyone ever comes up with a trouble free aquarium heater.
They will sell millions.
