I thought the same thing after just reading that post Rick.
I started adding small (300-500 microns) GPs to the fry diet a while back basically for two reasons. The first was that ultimately you don't know what buyers are going to want to feed the fish. My thinking was the more variety I gave the fry/juvies the more likely whatever the buyers offered them to eat they would quickly accept. I have no idea if this is actually true, but I have had good portion of my buyers say with amazement that their fish will eat anything they throw in the tank. My theory might be right, or maybe the buyers just aren't use to really healthy discus that are eating machines. The second and bigger reason is it gives me a fall back food if I screw up a batch of bbs, like I did just yesterday morning. It's funny how they don't hatch very well when you forget the last step of putting the airline in the bottle. Dah.
I keep my fry with the parents longer than some and feed the parents beefheart through out, so they get beefheart whenever they're interested as well.
Best of luck getting another batch into the contest.
