Awesome talk Al, finally got around to enjoying it. Thank You
This video was made by our forum owner Al Sabetta. It is by far one of the more concise up to date videos on discus information and rearing.
This video will answer a slew of questions you may have if you are interested in getting in to discus. It isn't only for beginners however, there is something for everyone:

Amazing knowledge and just shows the breathtaking scope of discus keeping!
I am returning to discus keeping after my last fish back in 1990 as a 16 year old - now I'm finally settled and can give them the care, space and attention they require.
Looking forward to resuming the exploration! Thanks for sharing such a great intro!

Just watched this video on YouTube and then joined this forum! The video is incredibly informative!!! Thank you Al for all of the advice and tips! I think that I'm finally ready to get discus...moving in a few months so it will have to wait until then, but I've been waiting a looooong time!
Hi Nicole and welcome to the forum .
Good luck with your new home and your new future discus tank project . Use the time until then to read and learn as much as you can before you take the plunge .
You can also open your own thread for your tank build up and inform us about it and ask questions along the way.
Looking forward to see your first discus tank .

Awesome video... sparked my interested.
I am slowly converting my reef tank into a fresh water discus tank.
Nice video. Great for those who are new to the hobby and also a reminder for those who need to get back to the basics.
I think this video was the one spot for the best information just starting out. It answers a lot of questions and lays it all out, the good, bad, and the beautiful. Every once in awhile I will go back and re-watch parts of it.
Thanks again to Joey and Al- also Ricardo for digging it up again. Everyone who ever considers keeping discus should watch this at least once before buying equipment and fish! Then as a complimentary package, go and read as many stickies as you can cram into your newly expanding, discus keeping brain!
