Re: Endlers
You might wonder my fascination with Endlers live bearers. Live bearer like these have a reputation as being easy to breed so alot of hobbyists look at them as not being a challenge to keep and pass them by. If the goal is just to keep them and watch them make babies and more babies that might be so. They are prolific and easy to keep. But if the goal to try and make something different,
Endlers and their guppy kin are perfect. It takes years and a ton of tank space to grow out discus and breed them a few generations..which is of course my current goals. It takes a ton of patience as well. With Endlers the process is so much faster...takes up little space , and the fish are arguably some of the most beautiful though tiny fish you can keep. Its a perfect species to fill the time between Discus generations.
Heres an example. In the group of fire reds I posted above there was one male that was very different. Its slender... lyre tailed with a deep fork and is half black. It now resides in its own tank with a harem of females in the hopes it will pass on that gene. With discus this would take ages.. with these endlers months.

Re: Endlers
Good luck and glad you're having fun with something other than our favorite type of fish.
I've been interested in the different variations of guppies (LOL) for awhile now, since there are so many colorful strains out - Metal Lace, Snakeskin, King Tiger, Dragon (and Dragon Dumbo) that I think it would be a ton of fun working with them.
