Brian, also glad you managed to dodge getting hit, although it definitely sucks for your neighbor. We luckily missed an EF2 tornado by about 15 miles earlier this year - took out about 150 homes.

Thanks Jake. I had a feeling there may be some tornados in our area by the way the radar looked that night. They usually form at the trailing edge of a front and that night there were two trailing edges merging together. Actually, this morning the weather service now says they confirmed there were 4 EF1's that hit within a 2 square mile area.

As a change of pace, this was the scene from our car window as we crossed the Continental Divide yesterday on our way to Idaho. Elevation is ~10,000 feet and the outside sensor registered 21F.



Not too bad climbing the Rockies, but coming down was a different story...

At the time, I thought it was a freak snowstorm. Same thing happened later in the day when we drove the mountain pass from Jackson into Idaho. No trailers were allowed due to snow accumulation and the local kids were going off the mountain side on their boards.

Glad I'm not young anymore.
